Instant Gratification

I believe the modern society lacks patience.

We’re all guilty of it and we don’t even realize it.  We call, text, e-mail, facebook, twitter, and whatever else you use to contact people and if we don’t get a response right away — we get frustrated, angry, annoyed.

It’s hard to believe that there was a time when the only way to communicate with people who lived afar was via post.  Post that was carried by horseback.  Not only did you have to count on your letter getting to it’s destination in one piece, but waiting on a response to get back to you.

I wasn’t around during that time, but I’d like to believe people were a lot more open minded.  Forgiving, and patient when it came simple things.  Because there wasn’t a way to communicate “instantly” plans had to be made and finalized in advance.  There had to be a PLAN…a commitment.

Where as now – we make plans and cancel them on a day to day basis.

I’m sure there was a point to this – some where.  But I got distracted so I’ll just end it now.

The next time you don’t immediately hear back from someone, take a few breaths — it’ll be okay.
